NYC Neighborhood Innovation Lab in Brownsville
These events join New Yorkers of all ages to test and give feedback on technologies aimed at improving quality of life and City services.

The City's first NYCx Co-Lab launched in Brownsville in 2017, as a partnership with the Brownsville Community Justice Center and part of The Brownsville Plan, a framework for current and future City investments in Brownsville. Public programs and workshops take place throughout the year at the Lab's anchor site, Osborn Plaza. These events join New Yorkers of all ages to test and give feedback on technologies aimed at improving quality of life and City services. The Brownsville NYCx Co-Lab installed two technologies for testing in a real-world environment: a Bigbelly solar-powered smart waste and recycling system, and two Soofa smart benches, which offer free solar-powered mobile charging. The community's feedback on these technologies will help determine how they can be improved or implemented on a larger scale.
