The Civic Tech Field Guide's view of impact metrics
In order to better celebrate civic tech's victories (just as we acknowledge its flame-outs), we've begun keeping a record of impact statements. These are the self-reported, quantified metrics that many projects share on their websites and in their annual reports. So far, we've collected 227 impact statements across almost as many projects. Take a look. You can update or contribute impact statements for your project, or a project you admire, by clicking the "Suggest a change" button included on every Field Guide listing. There are many ways to evaluate impact (which we also catalog), but impact statements are a relatively quick and straightforward way to show that actually, civic tech continues making a difference in our world. The statements we collect appear on the project's profile in the Field Guide, and on this dedicated Impact Tracker.
