Why Civic Infrastructure? Cities and their residents are demanding more than ever of urban infrastructure. Our built environment - including buildings, roads, parks, bridges, pipes, wires, fiber, and more - provide the foundation for complex urban systems that must connect with each other and the people who depend on them. Civic Infrastructure represents the intersection of: Physical Infrastructure - tangible structures and spaces where we live, work, and play (and the equipment that makes them habitable) Digital Infrastructure - foundational information technology capabilities to support data collection, management, analysis, and sharing Social Infrastructure - interpersonal and institutional relationships, public policies, and resident needs, expectations, & behaviors All of these tools and assets must come together to achieve cities' public, social, economic, and environmental goals. But productive collaboration doesn't happen by accident. Making the most of urban infrastructure requires novel approaches, business models, and structured partnerships – especially in light of evolving technologies and expectations.
