Toyooka iDO began in 2023 as an idea born from a local hackathon in Toyooka City and is now actively operated by the Toyooka Smart Community, led by Matsuhara. The project is designed primarily for families with children and local residents, providing easy access to community-based information such as child-rearing resources, local events, and facilities through a smartphone-friendly web service that requires no registration or app installation. Developed collaboratively by the city government, citizens, engineers, designers, and supported technically by Code for Japan, Toyooka iDO has strengthened citizen participation, improved access to everyday life information, and fostered a culture of co-creation between the public sector and the community. People can help by using the service, posting local event information, sharing feedback, and contributing their skills or ideas to further grow and sustain the platform.
