Confronting digital threats to Democracies.
We are a non-profit Civic Tech research lab working to fight digital threats against truth, democracy, and social unity. We’ve seen across the global south that democratic processes are a toxic mix between deliberate disinformation, unintentional misinformation, existing social rifts, and increasing polarization. With developments in technology, confronting digital threats like deep or cheap fakes to democracies is going to be even harder.

The CLC is a volunteer network of individuals trained to monitor for, critically evaluate, and report misinformation on diverse topics central to our civic life: voting, elections, public health, civil rights, and other important issues.

For this first phase of our program, WhatsApp is commissioning a competitive set of awards to researchers interested in exploring issues that are related to misinformation on WhatsApp.
