In these times of uncertainty and urgency, we are all called to action. Understanding technology and its implications is essential to creating a more just and equitable future. How do we imagine a future world that honors the wisdom of our ancestors alongside the next generation of computer scientists, information architects, engineers, data scientists, designers, artists, and activists? The Public Interest Technology University Network (PIT-UN), a partnership that unites 48 colleges and universities, is building the growing field of public interest technology and fostering a new generation of civic-minded technologists focused on how the design and implementation of technology can best serve the public. Defining public interest technology requires centering voices historically excluded from important decision-making points in the development of technology.
