**OpenCouncil** **demystifies local government** and enables active **citizen participation**. They're starting at the municipal level in Greece: they transcribe and organize city council meetings using AI, making them simple and understandable. They turn 8-hour long meetings into **automatically generated fair and objective AI podcasts**, **TikToks and Reels** and share them on social media. They also send out **personalized WhatsApp messages informing citizens about city council topics that concern their own street & neighborhood**, and enable **zero-friction participatory democracy** through social media and IM apps. Three months in, **OpenCouncil already has significant traction**: Citizens and councillors are using it, and municipalities are buying it. They're about to sign agreements with **5 municipalities in Greece, including Athens - the birthplace of democracy itself and Greece's largest city**.
