An R package that provides a unified set of helper functions to access datasets from the NYC Open Data platform
This package was first developed and deployed to CRAN November 2025. This is meant for anyone that uses the programming language R, as it seamlessly allows any R user to access over 2,000 live datasets from the NYC Open Data portal. These datasets range from all 311 requests, housing, transportation, and everything in between. So far, this package has almost 1,500 downloads. This year, students at Brooklyn College, CUNY, utilized this package to conduct their own research regarding NYC. Each research project became a chapter in the NYC Open Data Student Gallery Book, which was presented at NYC Open Data Week 2026.
