CHVote

This prototype is being developed as a Proof of Concept for the protocol the eVoting group of the BFH (Berner Fachhochschule) is working on, in partnership with Canton Geneva.

Since 2001
Geneva, Switzerland
Open source: Yes

Although the project has been discontinued, the released material allows any party to build and run an evoting system allowing to complete the whole process for a votation: prepare and start a ballot, cast votes, and finally decrypt the ballot box and get the results. It provides individual and universal verifiability using the security model including independent control components and insiders threats as required by the Federal Chancellery ordinance. The main objectives of the project were to: - Create a new eVoting platform that would implement the highest requirement of the Federal Chancellery Ordinance on Electronic Voting, and other cantonal legal requirements to be able to drive most of the ballot types occurring in Switzerland. - Provide a back office tool to drive the ballots from preparation to counting, allowing complete autonomy for the user cantons. - Develop a platform in open source, to stimulate collaboration from international developer community and to provide transparency on the system, to provide security and trust.
