Assembl
Massive collective intelligence is the capacity to mobilize communities on a large scale (hundreds and thousands of participants) around key stakes and challenges to co-create new solutions in a short space of time.
When did it begin? In 2014, bluenove merged with the Canadian startup Clouds, editor of Assembl, a platform co-developed with MIT as part of an R&D financed by the European Commission (FP7 2013-2015). This research focused on how citizens from the 28 member countries can co-construct the future European Constitution. In 2018, the first annual licenses for Assembl were delivered and Bright Mirror was launched. Who's it for? In less than ten years, bluenove has accompanied more than 300 clients on nearly 800 projects. Corporate, Public organizations, Citizen initiatives... Assembl can be used to support any massive collective intelligence initiative, it's supporting various languages and it embeds machine translation API. When did it begin? - Institutions using the platform
- Used in France's Grand Débat National, as well as the Conseil National de la Refondations, and significant private sector usage (found on <https://www.bluenove.com/>). And a project that commissioned professional scriptwriters to create stories based on citizens' imaginations. 24 organizations are listed [on Assembl's webpage](https://www.bluenove.com/en/offers/assembl/) (https://www.bluenove.com/en/offers/assembl/). bluenove has worked with even more: "In less than ten years, bluenove has accompanied more than 300 clients on nearly 800 projects."
- How AI is used
- Machine Learning helps categorize the content published on the platform before it is analyzed and synthesized using human intelligence. Bluenove's initial AI integrations used semantic analysis and embeddings with humans in the loop (following machine pre-analysis) to cluster participant contributions. Now, the platform integrates generative AI throughout the participatory process. Users can also compute highlights with AI to classify them, make them more generic, provide arguments, offer examples, make them more specific, mix and match highlights, or change the view display. This set of AI suggestions is meant to "enrich" the debate. The company also uses AI to help participants imagine. They have run processes focused on designing a better tomorrow, hired professional scriptwriters to produce participants' stories, built a prototype tool called Bright Mirror, and continue to include a "design fiction" mode to help participants dream up solutions and ideas with AI assistance. The company uses a mix of LLM models, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services products.
