The AiCT Consortium is the operating body for the smart-city initiative that Aizuwakamatsu began in 2011 as part of post-disaster reconstruction, now aimed at advancing toward "Super City" designation. It organizes member companies into working groups across domains such as healthcare, disaster prevention, energy, education, agriculture, tourism, government, payments, and mobility, and runs shared services including the "Aizuwakamatsu Plus" city OS/data platform, an open API catalog, a regional digital currency (Aizu Zaifu/Aizu Coin), and human-resource development programs.
