Digital Independence Day (DI.DAY) is a grassroots European campaign encouraging people, on the first Sunday of each month, to switch one part of their digital life from Big Tech to a "democracy-friendly" alternative, using step-by-step "switch recipes." Coordinated by the nonprofit Save Social with a broad alliance of libraries, adult-education centres and associations, it frames dependence on a handful of tech billionaires as a democratic problem and offers friendly, cooking-recipe-styled guides (rated by time and difficulty) for de-Googling, leaving Amazon, or ditching Zoom.
